Home Is Where The Cozy Bed Is

I was just reading my friend Jenni's blog. She does such a great job keeping it up to date. Anyway, it was an inspiration to me to get busy on this blog.
The month of January was a blur to me. Chris left us in Simi to start work up here in Tualatin the 2nd of January. The following weeks I was busy preparing for the big move & saying goodbyes to friends. The moving truck pulled up on the 24th & emptied the house. The 25th was the last day of Simi schools for the kids. The 26th we were on the airplane with Chris flying to Portland, OR.
Our first weekend here we did a lot of driving around to get our bearings. We found all the necessary places to keep us happy such as Costco, Target, PF Changs, the temple, the church building, schools, parks, etc. Sunday, we attended our new ward, the Newberg 2nd ward. Everyone was warm & friendly to us. Thanks to Colin's clinginess, I had an excuse to hang out in Primary for both hours. If you know me well enough, you know I love being in the Primary.
Cassie & Craig started school last Tuesday. I am so pleased with the system here. Craig's school offers all those wonderful specials like he enjoyed in Texas: PE, library, music, computer lab! Yeah! Cassie's middle school offers girls only PE! Yeah! And to top it off FREE SCHOOL BUS! The bus stop is like right in front of our house. So nice. They are making friends & adjusting well. There are lots of boys on our street who are Craig's age, so he spends a lot of time outside playing before & after school. Cassie loves the YW program here. Her leaders are awesome & the girls are so nice. She attended New Beginnings last Wednesday & is excited to go on another youth baptism trip in a few weeks.
Chris' mom Kathy drove down from Gig Harbor, WA last Wednesday & helped me unpack & set up the house. What a great blessing she is to us! We got almost all the boxes emptied & ran a lot of errands to get food & supplies for this new place. Chris' dad joined us on Friday via the train. He and Chris did a bike ride on Saturday & the gals found the outlet mall just 30 minutes south of here. Kathy & Wally headed back to Gig Harbor that night. It was so nice to have them over! I also got new tires put on the Beetle so I don't slip all over the place on the wet roads. Thanks Chris!
In the midst of all of our changes, our family has managed to pass the flu around to each other one at a time. Cassie started it on the day the packers came. Craig got it the last day of school in Simi, Colin & Chris picked it up the day after we moved in to the new house, and last but not least I got it just as they were kicking off for the Super Bowl. For the first time in YEARS I missed the big game. Watching Manning lick his fingers would have just made me feel worse. So, I'm sitting in bed this morning, still in my pj's, having a normal, quiet morning.
