Getting ready to swim!
It was an amazing high school state swimming championship weekend! Last night, Cassie competed in the 200 freestyle relay final and the 400 freestyle relay consolation final. Her 200 free team took 5th place! The medal is really neat. It's in the shape of the state of Oregon. Last weekend at district championship, her 400 free relay team broke the NHS record. Last night, they broke it again! If they had been swimming in the final, they would have taken 5th, but being first in consolation amounts to 7th overall. Cassie had a wonderful time rubbing shoulders with many of Oregon's BEST swimmers. Kaylin Bing from Roseburg set some new state record times in different events over the weekend, and she's only a junior! There were also a few water polo rivals around that heated up the competition a little. Chris enjoyed people watching, specifically all the weird signals parents & coaches would use to motivate their swimmers.
The NHS boys team did very well. When all was said and done, they came up 4 points shy of being the state swimming team champs! SO close!
Cassie now turns her high school athletic focus to TRACK! Tomorrow she starts training her legs to run in a lane. She will continue to swim for the club team. In fact, club state championships are the first weekend in March, and then she'll swim up in Federal Way, WA the following weekend for club sectionals. The girl just keeps on going!
On the homefront, the rest of us enjoyed a fantastic week of sunshine. I was able to go running everyday. Chris was able to get out on the roads for his bike rides as well. Craig lost both of his basketball games, but has redemption on his mind with 3 games ahead this week. He will also be performing in the middle school jazz band concert and putting his cooking skills to use for a scout/mother's dinner this week.

Congrats, Cassie...It's time to get out of the chlorine and into Oregon's fresh spring air. Are you going to be a sprinter or distance runner?

Keep shooting the deep 3-ball, Craig...They'll start dropping.
