Newberg’s young guns sent Meghan O’Halloran and Elizabeth Kaufman out with a bang as the Tigers thrashed Tigard 15-3 to celebrate senior night Monday at the Chehalem Aquatic Center.
Four players, all underclassmen, each scored at least three goals in the win.
Alysha Bush and Cassie Beecher led the way with four scores apiece, with Clara Pugsley and Alexis Vargas each scoring three times.
Pugsley and Vargas each had three steals and Haylee Walksontop added one goal to close out scoring for Newberg (10-2 Pac-9 Conference).
O’Halloran made nine saves in what could be her final home game.
“Your goalie is your No. 1 player,” head coach Jim McMaster said. “So me trying to find and train another gal to do what she does is going to be tough.”
The win closed out the regular season for Newberg, which finished second to Tualatin in the conference, but McMaster said he might attempt to schedule a game with Lincoln before the Tigers’ state playoff game Nov. 6.
