Bikes in Parades

This past weekend was Simi Valley Days. There was a carnival on a busy street corner so every kid had the opportunity to beg their parents to take them there. Saturday morning our family decided to take a group bike ride. We rode towards town to get to a bike path that followed a man-made creek. As we rode along the bike trail, we could hear a band playing off in the background. We figured out that it was the Simi Valley Day parade. So, we got up on the parade route & saw that the east bound lanes of LA Avenue were open to cyclists & pedestrians. We rode our bikes against the parade going down the other two lanes of traffic & had a great time kind of being in the parade! In all, we ended up riding about 14 miles. The rest of our day we spent running errands, watching college football, & Cassie went with Christine to see some of the Jazz festival.
Chris is on business in Las Vegas for a couple of days. He'll be back Wednesday for his 37th birthday! He'll no longer be "The Bus". I forgot who he told me he represents this year being #37.
Cassie & Craig are enjoying the new school year. The barage of papers to sign continue to come home along with fundraiser packets. We don't even get school bus service without paying! Cassie's middle school sent a paper home flat out asking for monetary donations for the year. I'm sure it's like that in other places too. I'm just fed up with the pressure to send $ to the schools right off the bat. And then I know there will be a second wave after Christmas.
Colin seems to be keeping himself busy most of the time the kids are in school. He plays Legos & video games for a while. He likes to head over to the park early to pick up Craig & play with the other kids.
I'm off to make dinner. It's cheese quesadillas tonight.
